Of the total, $3 million was secured from Telenor Group, the largest telecommunications operator in the Nordics. The remaining $2 million in financing came from Node, Antler VC, and Runway. The financing will be used to expand Telgea’s network footprint, allowing the company to add 16 more countries by the end of 2026, making them the operator covering most countries with local phone plans in the world.</strong><strong> </strong></p>
<p>The main challenge facing these companies is the highly fragmented nature of global telecommunications each country requires a separate local provider, introducing operational complexity and a constant need for local telecom expertise. A second critical pain point is purchasing power: because mobile spend is split across multiple local providers and contracts, international companies are unable to leverage their full global volume to negotiate better pricing and terms.</p>
<p>Telgea consolidates employee connectivity into a single global solution utilizing eSIM technology and extensive AI driven automation. The solution provides businesses with full visibility, centralized management, and a single global contract. By developing what is essentially a ready-made, seamlessly integrated network across markets, the company sees strong demand from local telecom operators seeking a true international footprint for their enterprise customers.</p>
<h3><strong>Expansion to 26 countries by end of 2026</strong></h3>
<p>Telgea currently serves more than 60 enterprise customers and has tier-1 network partnerships in 10 countries. The company’s combined voice and data footprint now reaches more than 650 million people across its active markets.</p>
<p>Telenor Group is one of the largest operators in the Nordics, with more than 160 million subscribers globally. Its venture arm, Telenor Amp, has made a strategic investment in Telgea, reflecting confidence in the company’s technology and growth potential.</p>
<p>Telgea plans to expand its operator friendly platform to 26 countries by year end 2026, and to 50 countries by 2027. Within two years,Telgea will cover every major business hub and reach 3 billion people worldwide.</p>

With this cutting-edge connectivity solution, MLGW targets improving the reliability of power distribution, minimising unplanned outages, and speeding up service restoration for its customers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This initiative is a national first—MLGW will be the first municipal utility in the U.S. to deploy a full-scale, standalone private 5G wireless network to serve more than 420,000 users. Nokia&#8217;s solution will combine and enhance MLGW&#8217;s communications for electric, gas, and water services. As a result, the network will offer enhanced connectivity, greater operational efficiency, and an extensible, high-performance network specifically designed for critical applications and future mobility requirements.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Doug McGowen, President and CEO, MLGW, says, “The 5G Network Deployment is a foundational aspect of MLGW’s Grid Modernisation Initiative. We will be able to meet the requirements for a modern electric grid. We will have fast and reliable communication for grid devices; increased reliability during storms or cyber events that will help us restore power even faster after outages. This enables more automation and smart control operations and supports future technology like electric vehicles and battery storage.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The end-to-end solution will facilitate seamless, real-time communication and automation of MLGW’s operations. It will enable critical applications like automated meter reading, grid monitoring, fault detection, and remote management. Deployment of this private 5G network also sets the foundation for innovations with voice, video services, and connected mobility. Nokia&#8217;s technology enables effortless integration with existing infrastructure as well as emerging IoT technologies like smart meters, automation systems, field equipment, and grid sensors, enhancing interoperability. </span></p>

However, with increasing demand for faster, low-latency and easier access to data, a paradigm shift is happening in the way data is stored, processed, and distributed. Now we are entering the era of decentralized data center which shifts its arm from central cloud computing to edge computing. This transition is more than a passing trend; it is the future of IT and telecom and has the potential to change the ways in which businesses and consumers engage with technology.</span></p>
<h3><b>The Centralized Cloud — A Legacy Model</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For the past 10 years, cloud computing has sat in the epicenter of IT infrastructure. Previously, vast amounts of data have been processed and stored on centralized data centers that were typically located far away from end users. What the cloud approach has given us is unprecedented advantages in the form of scale, cost effectiveness, and global ability. All the big players like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud have developed large infrastructures around distributed data centers, providing businesses with the ability to transition into the digital age with powerful tools.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Yet as the amount of data created across the globe grows exponentially, the shortcomings of centralized data centres are increasingly evident. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), there will be 59 zettabytes of data in 2020, with the total volume of worldwide data doubled to 175 zettabytes by 2025. A large part of this data will be created at the network edge by devices or sensors including IoT devices, autonomous vehicles, and smart cities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It is simply impossible for the centralized cloud to process this influx of data. Latency becomes an issue as an interstate trip becomes needed in order for data to be processed and then returned to the user. Moreover, the challenges posed by bandwidth, network reliability and data sovereignty are making the centralized cloud computing model increasingly impractical for the data-heavy applications of the future. These challenges led to a more distributed approach: edge computing.</span></p>
<h3><b>The Rise of Edge Computing</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Instead, edge computing is a decentralized architecture that allows data to be processed closer to the point of generation, without having to be sent to distant centralized data centers. This represents a big change from traditional cloud computing and solves most of the problems presented by centralized systems.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One of the biggest motivators to edge computing comes from the telecom market. When 5G networks – which are currently being launched around the world – have become widely available, high speed and low latencies can unleash the full potential of edge computing. 5G allows for smaller-scale data centers known as edge nodes near end users, which process data locally rather than sending it back and forth to centralized data centers. This ability to deal with data at the &#8220;edge&#8221; of the network is vital for latency-sensitive applications like autonomous vehicles, virtual reality and telemedicine.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to IDC, edge will be the underpinning of IT and telecom in the future, with an estimated 75% of all data will be processed beyond centralized data centers by 2025. This allows for a much more efficient way of resource utilization and caters very effectively to the ever-increasing demand that businesses have for real-time data processing solutions.</span></p>
<h3><b>The Future of Data Centers: Why Decentralization Is Needed</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So, the move from centralized cloud computing to an edge-computing approach is not just a technology play — it’s a response to the changing requirements of businesses, consumers, and industries. So, there are a lot of benefits of decentralized data centers which are a must for the future of IT and telecom.</span></p>
<h3><b>Lower Latency and Quicker Response Times</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Applications like self-driving cars demand millisecond precision. Decentralized data centers reduce latency because they process data closer to where it is produced. For instance, suppose an edge node will be established in a city; it can perform real-time processing of the information that is generated by a fleet of autonomous cars to enable navigation seamlessly and safely. For instance, in healthcare decentralized systems allows doctors to perform remote surgeries with ultra-low latency thereby cutting the distance between patient and data processing facilities.</span></p>

Edge computing also plays a critical role in the automotive industry, especially for autonomous cars. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>T-Mobile, today announced it has reached an agreement in principle to divest the company’s 800 MHz spectrum portfolio to purchaser Grain Management, LLC, a leading private investment firm focused on digital infrastructure and solutions to the global broadband industry. In partnership with energy and infrastructure experts from Black &amp; Veatch, Grain is planning to market the 800 MHz spectrum portfolio to utilities, other critical infrastructure industry operators, rural and regional operators, and other enterprises, meeting crucial unfulfilled telecommunications needs. Consumers across the nation served by the utilities and the U.S. economy will benefit from upgraded critical network infrastructures that are more resilient, secure and efficient. Under the terms of the agreement, T-Mobile would receive in return for its 800 MHz spectrum portfolio a combination of cash and all of Grain’s 600 MHz spectrum licenses.</p>
<p>“We are very pleased with the terms we reached with Grain and think the deal represents a great value for both parties. This deal would give T-Mobile the opportunity to work with key partners like Grain that share our vision to optimize spectrum for consumers by exploring the possibilities of how emerging technologies can support mission-critical infrastructure and communications – something that is integral to fueling our country’s continued 5G leadership that drives needed economic growth,” said Dirk Mosa, Senior Vice President, Spectrum, Partnerships and Acquisitions for T-Mobile. “This deal also gives us a great opportunity to deploy Grain’s 600 MHz portfolio of spectrum on T-Mobile’s network, which is already creating better customer experiences in several markets.”</p>
<p>The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of April 2025 and will be subject to regulatory approvals. Closing of the proposed transaction will occur at such later date after all required regulatory approvals have been received and other closing conditions satisfied. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Telefónica and Meta announce that they have started working jointly to optimize video traffic delivery on Telefonica´s network and deliver mobile network efficiencies.</p>
<p>Meta has been investing in video engineering for years, seeking to continuously optimize resources, while simultaneously enhancing user experience. With changing usage patterns and the demand for short form video content such as Reels, there has been an increasing interest to understand how high-quality video experiences can be delivered at scale without jeopardizing user experience.</p>
<p>Telefonica, committed to building a future-proof, reliable, resilient, and secure network, devotes substantial investments to ensure it is flexible, efficient, and sustainable. These investments cater for traffic growth on Telefonica’s network that has increased fivefold over the past decade.</p>
<p>Telefonica and Meta, through collaborative testing and aligning on key performance parameters, conducted several experiments over 4G and 5G Movistar networks in Spain to understand and meet the challenges of short form video delivery over mobile networks. The tested configuration significantly reduced video traffic in real network conditions while maintaining the user experience, resulting in the decision to expand this technology to other relevant Telefonica markets. These results motivate Telefonica and Meta to continue implementing industry best practices in terms of efficiency.</p>
<p>Telefonica and Meta are also exploring other potential approaches like the exposure of network status information through standard based APIs such as those defined in IETF (sconepro) or within the Open Gateway initiative in CAMARA that can result in closer coordination between both networks. Both companies will continue to collaborate closely to drive innovation in this space, including the adoption of the latest and most efficient video codecs and the development of standards that improve coordination between applications and networks.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Grid, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) of Greece, and Quadrivium Digital, this week announced plans for the new CLS in Chania.</p>
<p>The new CLS will be hosted within Quadrivium&#8217;s planned 20MW data center campus and will act as a new node to anchor international subsea cable systems from Asia and Africa crossing the Eastern Mediterranean.</p>
<p>Kostas Agathakis, chairman of Grid Telecom, said: &#8220;We are continually looking for ways to strategically expand our services to partners and customers. In this framework, our plans to partner with Quadrivium Digital in building a new CLS in Crete will significantly support the implementation of new, international alternative routes.&#8221;</p>
<p>The site will feature an eight-duct buried bore pipe into the sea and multiple Beach Manholes (BMH). Grid Telecom said it will provide a backhaul network to all existing and new DCs on the island of Crete, the Greek mainland, as well as in neighboring countries.</p>
<p>IPTO CEO Manos Manousakis added: &#8220;Neutral data centers and open-access cable landing stations create synergies and add value, which is why we highly value the strategic cooperation between IPTO&#8217;s subsidiary, Grid Telecom, and Quadrivium.&#8221;</p>
<p>Founded in 2022, Quadrivium aims to develop Tier III quality, carrier-neutral data centers and cable landing stations across Europe. On its website, the company says it has selected six locations in Europe, each with multiple subsea cable landings, to develop new facilities. The Chania site is the company&#8217;s first and only publicly-announced site to date.</p>
<p>The company is led by Aditya Ayyagari, who has previously held positions at Equinix, BT, and Tech Mahindra.</p>
<p>Ayyagari said: &#8220;This strategic partnership with IPTO and Grid Telecom creates a combined landing and interconnection solution which helps subsea cable consortiums completely eliminate costly and time-consuming permitting processes and landing infrastructure construction.&#8221;</p>
<p>Established in January 2019, Grid Telecom provides telecommunications services. The company operates more than 4,000km of fiber across Greece.</p>
<p>The company announced plans for a CLS on the south side of the Crete in May 2022 (Chania is on the north side).</p>
<p>Crete has a number of existing landing points on the island, and is currently or due to be connected to more than 10 cables in the coming years.</p>

Nokia will work with partner Alcon to roll out the private wireless network, which will support 200 Sigma employees and add multiple innovative mining applications that boost productivity and operational efficiency.</p>
<p>As the world converts to more energy-efficient vehicles to combat climate change, demand for lithium is skyrocketing. Exploration globally is expected to increase more than 10 times by 2035. Already a leader in advanced sustainable mining practices, Sigma produced record amounts of Triple Zero Green Lithium at its Brazil plant in 2023 and its Quintuple Zero Green Lithium was recognized at COP28 as the most sustainable lithium in the world.</p>
<p>With the addition of a Nokia private LTE network based on Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (Nokia DAC), the company is ratcheting up its goal to produce next-generation EV batteries in a carbon neutral, socially and environmentally sustainable manner &#8211; deploying robust dedicated bandwidth and throughput across its sites. Connecting workers with certified ruggedized devices, industrial edge computing and a catalog of ecosystem-neutral applications contribute to the creation of a safer working environment and enhance productivity and operational efficiency with crucial mining apps such as dispatch, push-to-talk and push-to-video, and smart badge systems.</p>

<h3><strong>New Regulations</strong></h3>
<p>A wide variety of electronic gadgets will now be required to have a USB-C charging connector due to the new regulations. As a result, the majority of gadgets can be powered by using the same adapter. The guidelines add a pictogram that indicates whether a new item includes a charger and a label showing the charging capacity so that customers can clearly see what they are purchasing.</p>
<p>The rule also gives customers the option of buying a new gadget either with or without the charger.
