Cloud Integrated Satellite Networks Transforming Telecom

The synergy between cloud computing and satellite communications is creating a more agile and responsive telecommunications framework. By virtualizing ground stations and moving network functions into the cloud, operators can provide high-speed data processing and real-time connectivity to global enterprises regardless of their location, driving a new wave of digital transformation.

Satellite Broadcasting Transforms Media and Telecom Delivery

Satellite broadcasting is undergoing a technological rebirth as it evolves from a traditional linear media platform into a sophisticated, high-capacity distribution network. By integrating with modern telecom services and leveraging advanced digital media formats, it continues to provide a vital link for high-quality content delivery to millions of viewers worldwide, bridging the gap between urban centers and the most remote regions.

Agama Technologies, the video service quality assurance expert, today announced that is has been selected as the strategic partner for service quality assurance for Telekom Austria Group’s new DTH platform for satellite pay-TV.

Telekom Austria Group’s direct2home product is targeted at broadcasting companies and telecommunication operators in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), a region in the process of digital switchover that represents a market of approximately 75 million households.

At the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam in September, Telekom Austria Group announced its entry into the new business field of satellite TV. With its new direct2home service, broadcasters can extend their footprint and deliver their content to new markets and telecommunication companies can enter the pay-TV business via Eutelsat’s 16 degrees East orbital position without investing heavily in infrastructure. To gain the operational transparency needed to be in control of, and to work proactively with, the service quality and customer satisfaction in this new platform, Telekom Austria Group has reinforced its trust in Agama Technologies as its video service quality assurance partner. The first telco to deploy the new platform, with service quality assurance by Agama’s DTV Monitoring Solution, is Telekom Austria Group’s Croatian subsidiary Vipnet, which offers direct2home services to its existing cable TV customer base on the Croatian market.

Stefan Amon, Director Wholesale at Telekom Austria Group, says: “With our new direct2home services we reach some 75 million households in the CEE region. By partnering with the best system providers on the market we deliver a high quality service portfolio to our potential B2B customers in the broadcast and telecommunications industry. Agama without any doubt was choice number one as partner for the quality assurance of the video signals.”

Mikael Dahlgren, CEO at Agama Technologies, adds: “Opportunity enabling offerings to the market, like this, are always exciting. As a long standing partner, we are very proud to be selected by Telekom Austria Group to deliver our solution and expertise to also support its new direct2home product with best-in-class service quality assurance.”
