India’s 1st 3G service operator, MTNL announced the introduction of the country’s first 3G mobile TV with MPEG4 technology. This new 3G mobile TV is being offered to all of MTNL’s subscribers in the two major cities of Mumbai and Delhi. The device is unique in India because it’s the first device to provide IPTV feed for the mobile TV in India. This will help viewers watch TV at an extremely high speed and resolution.

Talking on the subject of the launch of this unique device, Kailash Choudhari, the managing director of MTNL’s partner in this operation, Aksh Optifiber mentioned that in his company the chief motive was to deliver latest and consumer satisfying technology.

He said that he was proud to announce the launch of this wonderful gadget. The 3G mobile TV realized a seemingly distant dream of viewing TV while on the move. He added that he gave all the due credit to their partner Alcatel-Lucent for helping them fulfill the dream of the average Indian subscriber to own a highly innovative gadget.

The managing director of Alcatel-Lucent, India, Vivek Mohan mentioned that their mobile flowing server presents an excellent viewing experience and a good quality from the first video frame itself and a quick flawless switching when moving between various channels. Alcatel-Lucent’s mobile flowing server is an instant solution for MTNL to provide various kinds of video services for its subscribers on the 3G network. The server supports all kinds of standard formats of media and provides flawless switching between high bit rate and low bit rate streaming depending on the coverage and availability of bandwidth.

This dynamic new device helps Aksh Optifiber expand its contemporary service for IPTV, iControl, which is currently being offered to all MTNL subscribers. This new development also confirms Alcatel-Lucent’s position in the innovation of novel mobile phone services for MTNL.
