Partnership will lower network and termination costs outside each telco’s footprint.

Deutsche Telekom’s carrier services arm on Thursday signed a five-year partnership deal with Colt Technology, a move intended to extend the reach and improve the efficiency of each telco’s international voice services.

For Colt, the agreement will help it to support its enterprise and wholesale customers in more markets without having to build from the ground up. Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales and Solutions (ICSS) meanwhile will be able to tap Colt’s network and voice portfolio to improve the level of service it provides to other carriers.

“We see an increasing demand for services from enterprise customers that require support not only in one country, but in several countries in Europe and beyond,” said Richard Oosterom, EVP of voice services at Colt, in a statement. “Collaborating with Deutsche Telekom ICSS allows us to shorten the time to expand and strengthen our offering and with considerably less risk than doing it by ourselves.”

Working together will enable both telcos to lower their network and voice termination costs outside their respective network footprints without necessitating hefty upfront investment.

“It also presents a great opportunity to collaborate on new products to attract new customers who might not have had us on their radar before,” said Holger Magnussen, senior vice president of ICSS at Deutsche Telekom.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how the partnership will propel the growth of both companies in the European market,” he said.
