German services labor union ver.di and Deutsche Telekom AG said Tuesday they have reached a wage agreement for about 18,500 workers at its T-Systems unit.

T-Systems staff will receive three pay increases worth a total of about 6.5% under the agreement, which ends March 31, 2014, Deutsche Telekom said.
A pay rise of 2.3% will be backdated to the start of May, both parties said. In a second and third step next year, salaries will be further increased by 2.1% each time, they added.
In addition, protection against unfair dismissal has been extended until the end of 2013, the Telekom statement said.
On May 7, ver.di and the company reached a similar wage agreement for 50,000 workers at the domestic Telekom Deutschland unit and at the end of April they reached a deal for about 17,000 employees working at the German telecommunications giant’s head offices in Bonn.
