Ooredoo took home the award for “Best Mobile Application of the Year” at the 2016 Qatar IT Business Awards event in Doha.

The award is the latest in a string of accolades Ooredoo has won in recent months, as the company has powered ahead in supporting digital lifestyles for everyone in Qatar.

The Ooredoo App was launched in April 2013 and has become one of the most popular apps in Qatar since its launch with over 500,000 downloads.

In its nomination application, Ooredoo noted the Ooredoo apps performance, convenience and customer engagement as its experience highlights. With the Ooredoo App, users can check their usage – how much data, minutes and texts they have used, their remaining balance and subscribe and change to new services without visiting a store.

Speaking on the win, Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “Even though our app is used by many users, it is intended to make each and every customer feel special. In this digital age, it’s still the personal relationship and trust formed with customers that brings us our brand loyalty and success. We’re currently working hard to improve our app even further and we thank the Qatar IT Business Awards for this honour and congratulate them on another great event.”

The Qatar IT Business 2016 Awards recognise the contributions of Qatari companies to the country’s IT sector. The award ceremony was held under the initiative of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and winners were announced in the presence of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti and HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani.
