Padget Electronics, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, on Monday entered into a partnership to manufacture Nokia smartphones in India for HMD Global, it said in a regulatory filing.

“It gives us immense pleasure to announce that we have partnered with HMD Global as manufacturers of Nokia smartphones in India, which is an iconic brand.. We are sure that with their vision and stringent industry-leading processes, combined with our expertise in manufacturing, we will be able to bring a range of Nokia smartphones to customers,” said Atul B. Lall, chairman, and managing director, Dixon.

Dixon’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Padget Electronics, has signed an agreement with Motorola for manufacturing of smartphones. The products will be manufactured at Padget’s manufacturing facility situated at Noida, Uttar Pradesh,” the company had said in an exchange filing.

Padget Electronics is one of the five Indian companies which have been approved to receive incentives for incremental production of mobile phone handsets under the Centre’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

ET had reported that Dixon has invested Rs 75 crore for setting up its 11th manufacturing plant in Noida, which would be its third dedicated factory for assembling mobile handsets.
