Vodafone Idea said it has integrated Vi Movies & TV app into the Vi App which will allow its users to stream live TV channels and OTT content seamlessly.

“Offering a simplified and new user experience, Vi App will now double up as an OTT app offering a rich repertoire of content, in addition to the wide range of products & services available,” Vodafone Idea said in a statement.

The integration will allow the telco’s subscribers to stream more than 450 live TV channels including Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Colors HD, Discovery, MTV, among others as well as live news channels such as Aaj Tak, India TV, CNBC Awaaz, and many more on the Vi app.

Vi app will now be able to directly stream OTT content from apps like Voot Select, Discovery, Lionsgate Play, SunNxt, and Shemaroo Me.

The integrated experience is now live for Android users and will soon be available for iOS users, it said.

Vodafone Idea is also planning to launch a music streaming service in the coming months, in partnership with a leading content provider to compete head-to-head with Jio’s JioSaavn and Airtel’s Wynk services, MD and CEO Ravinder Takkar had recently said.

The top executive said the music app will have a content recommendation engine that will learn the user’s tastes over time and accordingly make suggestions on what the user may want to listen to next.

“The partner will bring a rich repository of music across genres in 15 Indian languages,” Takkar had said.
