Telkom Indonesia’s wholesale fibre subsidiary InfraNexia has expanded its strategic infrastructure cooperation with telecom operator XLSMART to strengthen Indonesia fibre connectivity across several of the country’s most important corridors. The expanded collaboration, announced on Monday, will see XLSMART leverage InfraNexia’s wholesale fibre network and passive infrastructure to increase network capacity in regions spanning Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, and Sumatra.
Under the terms of the agreement, XLSMART will use InfraNexia’s Wavenexia wholesale service to bolster connectivity and grow network capacity along corridors in these four regions. XLSMART will additionally make use of InfraNexia’s Metronexia services, which are designed to support connectivity between locations across several of its operational areas. The deal also enables both companies to jointly use passive infrastructure, including poles and ducts, to support further network development across Indonesia.
Infrastructure Cooperation Targets Efficient Network Growth
InfraNexia’s commercial director Syaiful Rahim Soenaria said the joint use of passive infrastructure is intended to boost asset productivity, encourage more efficient investment, and accelerate the expansion and development of networks in various parts of Indonesia. “We see the need for network capacity continues to grow, along with the increase in traffic and digital service needs. Through collaboration with XLSMART, InfraNexia strives to provide a reliable, scalable, and adaptive infrastructure for network needs in various strategic areas,” Soenaria said in a statement.
Andrijanto Muljono, director of enterprise strategic relationship at XLSMART, described the collaboration as “one of our steps in strengthening the network foundation as well as maintaining the flexibility of capacity development in a number of strategic areas.” The cooperation agreement underscores the growing importance of Indonesia fibre connectivity as traffic volumes and digital service demands continue to rise across the archipelago.
Agreement Signed at BATIC 2026
The collaboration deal was formally signed at Telkom Indonesia’s Bali Annual Telkom International Conference, known as BATIC 2026, approximately two weeks before the announcement. At the same event, InfraNexia signed a separate agreement with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s ICT arm Lintasarta to strengthen DWDM services on routes connecting the Sumatra region with Batam.
Telkom Indonesia completed the spinoff of InfraNexia as a wholly owned wholesale fibre subsidiary last month. The wholesale fibre network operator has since moved to establish multiple infrastructure cooperation agreements aimed at expanding connectivity in underserved and strategically significant regions. By making its Wavenexia, Metronexia, and passive infrastructure assets available to operators like XLSMART, InfraNexia is positioning its network capacity offerings as a foundation for broader digital infrastructure growth across the country.
The expanded cooperation reflects ongoing efforts by Indonesian telecommunications stakeholders to scale up the nation’s wholesale fibre network and meet rising demand for reliable, high-capacity connectivity across its diverse geography.
