Crossroads Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:ย CRDS), a global provider of data archive solutions, reported financial results for its fiscal second quarter endedย April 30, 2014.

Revenue for fiscal Q2 2014 wasย $2.3 million, a decrease of 16 percent fromย $2.7 million in the same quarter a year ago. The decrease is primarily attributable to a decrease in the company’s OEM SPHiNX business as well as revenue from an intellectual property licensee. Gross profit for fiscal Q2 2014 wasย $1.8 million, or 80 percent of total revenue, as compared to$1.9 million or 70 percent of total revenue in the same quarter a year ago.

Operating expenses for fiscal Q2 2014 totaledย $3.6 million as compared toย $5.8 million in the same period a year ago, a decrease of 37 percent, primarily due to the reduction in force inย October 2013.

Net loss available to common stockholders for fiscal Q2 2014 totaledย $(1.8) million orย $(0.14) loss per share, compared to a net loss available to common stockholders ofย $(4.8) million orย $(0.41) loss per share in the same quarter a year ago.

Atย April 30, 2014, cash and cash equivalents increasedย $2.7 million toย $10.7 million fromย $8.0 million in the previous quarter. The Company completed a private placement of its common stock nettingย $4.3 million during the quarter and paidย $865,000toward its Fortress debt.
