South Korea’s three leading telecom operatorsโ€”SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplusโ€”have simultaneously launched sales of Meta AI Glasses, expanding competition beyond smartphones into AI-powered wearable devices. The companies began offering the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses on July 22 through online and offline channels, broadening domestic distribution following Meta’s official launch of the device in South Korea earlier this year.

Developed jointly by Meta and EssilorLuxottica, the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) combines AI-powered voice assistance with imaging, communication and entertainment features. The Wayfarer model, which is the version available through all three telecom operators, starts at 690,000 won.

Telecom Operators Expand Meta AI Glasses Distribution

SK Telecom is selling six Wayfarer variants through its T Direct Shop and six SK Telecom PS&M stores across Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Customers subscribing to eligible mobile plans can receive monthly installment discounts ranging from 12,000 won to 24,000 won over 24- or 36-month payment periods. The operator has also introduced demonstration spaces at its participating retail stores.

KT has opened online sales and will expand availability to dealerships nationwide from August 3. The company is also operating experience zones at 11 stores across the country, including locations in Gwanghwamun and Gangnam. KT membership customers receive a 10% discount, while subscribers selecting the Yogo69 Plan Device Type B through KT Direct Shop can purchase the base model for approximately 16,000 won per month under a 24-month installment plan.

LG Uplus is offering the device through its Mania Device programme, with discounts varying according to customers’ mobile plans. Subscribers on higher-tier plans, including the 69 and 65 plans, can receive discounts of up to 80% on a 36-month installment plan, reducing the monthly cost of the base model to 3,857 won.

Meta AI Glasses Offer AI and Multimedia Features

The Meta AI Glasses support voice interactions through the “Hey Meta” command, allowing users to ask questions, search for information and receive recommendations. The device is equipped with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera capable of capturing first-person photos and recording 3K Ultra HD video.

Additional features include open-ear speakers and five microphones built into the temple arms, enabling phone calls and music playback. The glasses provide up to eight hours of use on a single charge and up to 48 hours when used with the charging case.

South Korea Expands Access to Meta AI Glasses

Meta officially introduced the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in South Korea on May 25 and added Korean-language support for the real-time translation feature earlier this month. With SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus now offering the device through their retail and online sales channels, the launch significantly expands nationwide availability of Meta AI Glasses for consumers.
