Zain KSA has officially initiated the commercial rollout of its 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network in Saudi Arabia, marking another step in the country’s telecommunications evolution. The deployment has commenced in the major cities of Riyadh and Jeddah and represents a significant enhancement to the operator’s existing mobile infrastructure. The launch builds on Zain KSA’s recently deployed 5G standalone (5G SA) network, which utilizes the 600 MHz spectrum band alongside other operating frequencies to deliver improved network capabilities.
Upgrading the Connectivity Experience
The commercial rollout of the 5G-Advanced network is intended to strengthen overall coverage while enhancing the quality and consistency of connectivity for users. According to Zain KSA, the upgraded infrastructure is designed to extend signal reach, particularly in indoor environments and locations where maintaining reliable reception has traditionally been more challenging.
Customers using compatible devices on the new 5G-Advanced network are expected to experience improvements across a wide range of everyday digital applications. The enhanced network supports smoother ultra-high-definition video streaming, more responsive cloud gaming, higher-quality video calls, and optimized AI-powered features. In addition, users in densely populated areas are expected to benefit from more stable and consistent connectivity, helping reduce congestion during periods of high network demand.
The operator also noted that compatible smartphones and connected devices will benefit from improved battery efficiency, enabling users to take advantage of advanced network capabilities while consuming less power.
Building the Foundation for Future Digital Services
Beyond improving current connectivity, the 5G-Advanced rollout establishes the technological foundation required to support a new generation of digital services. The enhanced network is designed to enable future technologies such as Voice over New Radio (VoNR), which delivers voice services over standalone 5G networks, and Reduced Capability (RedCap) IoT technology, which is expected to support a broader range of connected devices and enterprise applications.
