Russia-based telco to also appeal claims it owes more than $900m in unpaid taxes.

Mobile TeleSystems will contest the revocation of its Uzbekistan unit’s operating licenses within the next 10 days, the company said in a statement Monday.

The Tashkent commercial court earlier revoked the licenses held by MTS’s wholly owned Uzdunrobita, alleging the company had been operating without some of the necessary licenses.

MTS is also the subject of inspections by the Uzbek tax authorities, which is claiming unpaid taxes amounting to over $900 million. MTS also plans to contest those claims, it said in the statement.
