Telstra announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire MSC Mobility (MSC), a leading provider of Enterprise Mobility solutions in Australia. Telstra expects the transaction to complete in the coming weeks.

MSC provides mobile device management and provisioning services for large organisations, including providing devices and support to end users, and professional services, including strategy consulting and mobility solutions design.

MSCโ€™s core capability is its Enterprise Mobility Management platform which incorporates mobile device management software such as Airwatch and MobileIron.

Having already partnered with Telstra for a decade, MSC is Telstraโ€™s largest Enterprise Mobility Management partner and delivers device management services for a large number of Telstraโ€™s enterprise customers.

The acquisition will enable Telstra to build on this existing relationship that manages the end-to-end enterprise mobility lifecycle, including valuable reporting and analytics that help customers drive better business outcomes.

Telstra Executive Director Global Products, Michelle Bendschneider said that the acquisition is a key step in Telstraโ€™s Global Enterprise and Servicesโ€™ (GES) focus on Enterprise Mobility โ€“ which has been prioritised as a fundamental part of Telstraโ€™s growth strategy.

โ€œThis acquisition is an investment capturing the fastest growing segment of the enterprise mobility market: managing the supply of apps, content and mobile services to enterprises. To achieve our growth aspirations in Enterprise Mobility, we need to develop our customer relationships from a holistic mobility view, rather than just what sits on their device or tablet.

โ€œBy acquiring MSC we can now work with a customerโ€™s entire enterprise mobility experience and can manage it through one unified platform. This provides Telstra with an enhanced offering in the market and a seamless experience for our customers.

โ€œIn addition, MSCโ€™s established processes and platform can be expanded to host and support the service in Asia, Europe and the US, which also supports our objective of growing this portfolio globally,โ€ Ms Bendschneider said.

Leuk Andersen, Managing Director, MSC said โ€œThis is a great fit for our people and we are really excited by the opportunity to be part of Telstra’s strategic plan. Together weโ€™ll have powerful capabilities in device and mobile applications management, security, IoT, Machine to Machine and Asset Tracking.โ€

MSC employs around 100 staff, mostly based in Sydney. It is a founding member of the Global Enterprise Mobility Alliance (GEMA) and was recognised as the 2015 Enterprise Mobility Managed Service Provider of the year in Australia by Frost and Sullivan.
