Comarch, a global provider of IT products and services for telecommunications, announced today that it has become a partner of Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance, a global initiative founded by leading international mobile network operators committed to constant innovation of mobile broadband networks.

Today, operators are challenged with having to manage a variety of network and service production infrastructures, from mobile and fixed network environments up to converged networks and services across regions. This has an enormous impact on network operations, which NGMN targets with its project on โ€œNext Generation Converged Operations Requirementsโ€ (NGCOR). The primary objective of this project is to reduce complexity and integration costs in the area of network management by achieving standardized interfaces between the telecom infrastructure and the OSS (Operations Support Systems). NGCOR aims to obtain more flexibility and reduced time-to-market in the introduction of services through standardized network management functionalities for converged fixed and mobile networks.ย
The NGCOR project will be Comarchโ€™s first involvement in the NGMN Alliance activities after joining the organization. Comarch will support such areas as defining requirements for Network Planning / RAN Optimization, Inventory Management and Configuration Management, as well as Service Assurance.ย
โ€œIt is a great pleasure to have Comarch as our new NGMN Partner contributing to projects that define requirements for future converged network management systems. We look forward to Comarchโ€™s active participation in the project on โ€œNext Generation Converged Operation Requirementsโ€ where they will showcase their thought leadership and share vast expertise in the area of smart and cost-efficient IT solutions for next generation networks.โ€ โ€“ says Dr. Peter Meissner, Operating Officer of the NGMN Alliance.
โ€œWe believe that industry standards and an open architecture are the key to reduce cost of network integration processes. They enable operators to focus on delivering an excellent customer experience instead of addressing integration problems. Our priority is to help service providers deliver customer services that cross the traditional technological boundaries and concentrate on this area of innovation. Comarch aims to act in line with NGMNโ€™s objective to drive innovation and standards, that will contribute to a single integrated network for the seamless introduction of mobile broadband services. We are positive, that our experiences from various projects for T1 operators worldwide will come useful in defining these standards.โ€ โ€“ says Piotr Machnik, Business Development Center Director of Telecommunications Business Unit at Comarch.
