TeliaSonera has today appointed former ambassador to Russia Tomas Bertelman as strategic advisor for matters related to the company’s operations in Central Asia. Bertelman will assist the board in their efforts to manage the difficult tradeoffs associated with conducting business in the markets in question.
“I am looking forward to working with the issues related to TeliaSonera’s Eurasian operations. My commitment will be future oriented, and my efforts will be focused around areas where TeliaSonera’s Eurasian business and the demands of Nordic values and international guidelines intertwine. TeliaSonera is deeply rooted in Nordic values and has strong public and institutional owners. The company needs to reflect these values in its actions, and at the same time be successful abroad,” says Tomas Bertelman.
Tomas Bertelman, has extensive international experience and immense knowledge on the conditions prevailing in the former Soviet Union. Up until recently, he was Sweden’s ambassador to Russia, and has previously also been ambassador in Madrid, Riga and Warsaw as well as Consul General in the then Leningrad (St Petersburg). Tomas Bertelman has also been Secretary of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.
