ZTE Corporation, a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, is to provide a Circuit Switched/IP multimedia subsystem (CS/IMS) converged voice network to the Telekom Austria Group. ZTE is realising this project in collaboration with KCC (Kapsch Carrier Com), an experienced local system integrator.ย

Under the agreement, ZTE will deploy a mobile CS softswitch network to replace the existing mobile core network for Telekom Austria Group in its northern operational districts, including Austria, Slovenia and Liechtenstein. At the same time, ZTE will build a new IMS network in these branches.

The converged voice solutions provided to Telekom Austria Group are based on a cloud solution helping to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). Using an IMS hosting solution, the centraliSed IMS core will be deployed to serve various branches of the Group independently, enabling the rapid launch of new services and giving the Telekom Austria Group centralised management and control of its networks.

The newly-built IMS network will support various scenarios including RCSe (Rich Communication Suite-enhanced) and VoLTE (Voice over LTE) to enable full convergence of the operatorโ€™s fixed and mobile networks. The IMS RCSe service will provide a carrier-class multimedia experience to users, helping the operator to deal with the challenges from Internet-based OTT (over the top) providers. The IMS network also helps to achieve standard VoLTE service (eSRVCC, enhanced single radio voice call continuity). The new mobile softswitch and IMS network will help Telekom Austria Group to significantly increase its network capacity, enabling rapid growth of the operatorโ€™s customer base. ZTEโ€™s highly integrated core network equipment will significantly reduce the networkโ€™s physical footprint, enhance the service quality and reduce the operatorโ€™s CAPEX.

โ€œThe new ZTE CS/IMS network opens up the future for Telekom Austria Group,โ€ said Mr. Hans Pichler, CTO of Telekom Austria Group. โ€œIt will enable us to easily expand our business while giving our customers the best possible experience of the latest fixed and mobile communication services.โ€

“We are honoured to deploy a future-proof mobile voice and broadband multimedia service network for Telekom Austria Group, bringing fresh experiences to users and enabling the Group to strengthen its lead in different markets,” said Xu Ziyang, Vice President of ZTE.

Telekom Austria Group is Austria’s largest information and communications services provider and one of the Europe’s leading full-service carriers. Telekom Austria Group operates in a total of eight markets in Central and Eastern Europe including Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Belarus, Slovenia, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Macedonia and Liechtenstein.

ZTE is one of the industry-leading providers of end-to-end IMS network solutions. To date, ZTE IMS products have won over 150 commercial/trial contracts worldwide, covering China, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Peru, USA ,etc.
