TEL AVIV, Israel –ย PacketLight Networks, a leading provider of DWDM and OTN solutions, today announced the launch of the PL-8000M 2 x 800G Muxponder, designed to address the growing demand for high-capacity, cost-effective optical transport solutions. Its technology and flexible architecture make the PL-8000M ideal for rolling out 800GbE, 400GbE, and 100GbE services or for enhancing existing network capacity.

The PL-8000M delivers up to 1.6Tb/s of capacity using two 800G pluggable OpenROADM coherent optical modules in a 1U device. The device integrates key optical layer componentsโ€”mux/demux, EDFAs, and an optical switch, offering a complete optical networking solution that simplifies deployment and reduces operational costs.

Designed with a pay-as-you-grow architecture, the PL-8000M ensures future-proof scalability. Its interoperability with any third-party switch or router allows seamless integration into existing networks while providing a full demarcation point between the service and the DWDM network. This enables complete visibility and performance monitoring for client services.

The PL-8000M supports standard optical modules interfaces for the 100GbE, 400GbE and 800GbE services, and supports Layer-1 GCM-AES-256 encryption for secure communications, as well as QKD for future encryption needs. The device ensures efficient utilization of the optical spectrum and high-performance transport reducing the number of coherent transceivers needed.

Key Applications:

  • High-capacity data center interconnect (DCI) for enterprise, AI, and cloud computing networks
  • Service provider managed optical transport demarcation
  • Upgrading existing OTN/DWDM infrastructure with 800G wavelengths
  • Secured and encrypted communication for 100/400/800GbE services

โ€œThe PL-8000M reflects PacketLightโ€™s commitment to innovation and customer-centric design, increasing network capacity while reducing cost and power per bit,โ€ said Koby Reshef, CEO of PacketLight Networks. โ€œThis solution mitigates the challenges of modern optical networks, providing customers with the capacity, flexibility, and security they need to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry driven by emerging AI applications and high-capacity connectivity needs.โ€
