Telenor Group announced that Uninor, its subsidiary in India, will change its name to Telenor India. More than a name change, this is about expanding the commitment to bring the best value to its 40 million customers.

The entity, fully owned by Telenor Group, changes its brand identity along with legal company name as Telenor India Communications Pvt. Ltd.

Sigve Brekke, President and CEO, Telenor Group said, This is about more than changing a brand name. This is about preparing Telenor India for a new and exciting future. By taking a broader, value-driven position, Telenor India will appeal to new audiences with innovative services and a customer-first approach. We believe that the fundamentals in India remain strong with a large and young population and solid economic growth.

Two decades in Asia and six years in India have taught us how to make mobile communication services available to even more people. Our colleagues in India have shown the way and it feels both natural and like a pleasure to attach the Telenor name directly to the local operations. Telenor India will continue to deliver value for money, and to work harder than anyone to serve their customers well – with future-proof services today and tomorrow,” Brekke added
