HCLTech has announced the successful completion of its purchase of HPE’s Telco Solutions business, marking a significant expansion of the company’s engineering-led telecom capabilities. The HCLTech and HPE Telco acquisition, first announced in December 2025, strengthens the global technology firm’s position in delivering AI-driven telecom solutions for communication service providers worldwide.

The transaction follows the earlier integration of HPE’s Communications Technology Group business in 2024 and represents the next milestone in HCLTech’s broader telecom strategy. With communication service providers accelerating investments in AI-driven network transformation, next-generation infrastructure and autonomous operations, the acquisition is designed to help clients modernise applications, adopt AI-led solutions and monetise their networks more effectively.

Expanded Telecom Portfolio and Engineering Depth

Through the HCLTech and HPE Telco acquisition, the company has broadened its telecom portfolio with industry-leading intellectual property, solutions and integration services. The expanded capabilities now span Telecom Operational Support Systems, Home Subscriber Server and 5G Subscriber Data Management, complemented by HCLTech’s existing strengths in customer experience solutions, telecom network functions and virtualisation, media and video, industry IoT, data intelligence, Business Support Systems, Service Management and Orchestration, digital twin, AI-led intelligent applications on radio and eSIM capabilities.

The deal has also brought nearly 1,400 engineering and telecom specialists across 39 countries into HCLTech’s workforce, strengthening the company’s engineering depth and nearshore delivery capabilities across Japan, Spain, Romania, Italy, India and Latin America. This combination of expertise, talent and solutions, built upon more than 30 years of communications industry experience, creates what the company describes as a differentiated proposition for communication service providers.

HCLTech’s expanded global presence now covers communication service provider markets across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific, including Japan, reinforcing its ability to support global operators through local delivery capabilities.

Strategic Positioning for AI-Led Autonomous Operations

The HCLTech and HPE Telco acquisition positions the company to help communication service providers accelerate AI-led autonomous operations from radio to core. HCLTech has identified growth opportunities across several key areas, including network virtualisation, convergence and modernisation, multi-cloud, edge and datacenter networking, Network-as-a-Service, private 5G and Telecom OEM ecosystem transformation.

By combining the expertise and intellectual property acquired from both the Communications Technology Group and Telco Solutions businesses with its own engineering excellence, AI capabilities and managed services, HCLTech aims to enable customers to accelerate service transformation, AI-led autonomous operations and business growth.

The completion of the HCLTech and HPE Telco acquisition elevates the company’s leadership in the telecom sector through differentiated intellectual property, product engineering and research and development talent. The transaction also reinforces HCLTech’s trusted relationships with leading global communication service providers, providing a foundation for continued collaboration as operators navigate the shift towards AI-driven network architectures.

Integration of Telecom Software and Engineering Expertise

With the deal now finalised, HCLTech is set to integrate the acquired telecom software, intellectual property and engineering expertise into its existing portfolio. The combined capabilities are intended to serve communication service providers seeking to modernise their operations, deploy cloud-native telecom solutions and harness AI for network intelligence and automation.

The HCLTech and HPE Telco acquisition consolidates the company’s engineering and telecom domain expertise, creating a unified platform of AI-driven telecom solutions, managed services and deep industry knowledge. HCLTech has indicated that the integration will focus on delivering end-to-end support for communication service providers across their transformation journeys, from network infrastructure modernisation to the deployment of autonomous, AI-led operations.
