Dubai-based global technology infrastructure company iSON is committing $300 million, equivalent to approximately โฑ18 billion, to expand its presence in the Philippines. The planned investment centres on the deployment of more than 3,000 telecom towers nationwide, alongside broader digital infrastructure designed to improve connectivity and expand access to reliable telecommunications services for Filipinos, according to the Philippine Department of Finance.
The Department of Finance said it is working with iSON to facilitate the company’s planned expansion in the country. The investment has been earmarked for telecommunications towers and other digital infrastructure aimed at strengthening the nation’s telecoms landscape.
iSON Plans $300 Million Telecom Infrastructure Investment
Of the total $300 million planned investment, iSON has so far deployed approximately $65 million, equivalent to around โฑ3.9 billion. That figure represents roughly 22 per cent of the company’s overall commitment and has been used to finance the construction of 450 telecom towers.
The remaining investment is expected to fund the build-out of additional tower deployment across the Philippines, bringing the total number of planned telecom towers to more than 3,000. The broader programme also encompasses other digital infrastructure projects intended to bring improved telecoms and digital services to communities nationwide.
Finance Secretary Frederick Go emphasised the government’s role in supporting the initiative. “The Department of Finance is committed to creating an environment where investments can translate into better opportunities for Filipinos. With active discussion with investors, we can unlock new investments, create quality jobs for the Filipino workforce, and strengthen key industries,” Go said.
3,000 Telecom Towers Form Core of Expansion
The centrepiece of iSON’s Philippines strategy is the construction of more than 3,000 telecom towers, a programme that the Department of Finance described as part of a wider effort to improve connectivity and expand access to reliable telecommunications and digital services. With 450 towers already financed through the approximately $65 million deployed to date, the scale of the remaining tower deployment underlines the significance of the company’s long-term commitment to telecom infrastructure in the Philippines.
iSON chair Vivek Gupta expressed confidence in the company’s direction. “As a group, we are excited and we are committed. We have understood the art of doing business here. The opportunities are tremendous. We want to put as much money on the ground as possible to really make it happen,” Gupta said.
iSON Expands Into Wider Digital Infrastructure
Beyond telecom towers, iSON is pursuing a range of complementary projects in the Philippines. The company is partnering with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority on modern agriculture initiatives and a 40-megawatt solar project in New Clark City.
Separately, iSON also plans to develop a $50 million modern agriculture project, valued at approximately โฑ3 billion, and a 400-megawatt agro-solar project valued at $200 million, or roughly โฑ12 billion. According to the Department of Finance, these projects are expected to support modern agricultural production while contributing to the country’s clean energy development.
The combination of telecom infrastructure Philippines investment and adjacent ventures in agriculture and renewable energy reflects the breadth of iSON Philippines operations as the company scales its presence in the market. The Department of Finance’s active engagement in facilitating the planned expansion signals the government’s interest in attracting further digital infrastructure investment and supporting tower deployment at scale across the country.
