Cloud and Edge Networks Accelerated by Optical Links

The synergy between centralized data centers and decentralized edge nodes is critical for the next wave of digital transformation. By utilizing high-capacity optical links, operators are achieving the ultra-low latency and massive data transfer speeds required to support real-time applications and seamless global connectivity across diverse industries.

Optical Sensing Technologies Advancing Smart Networks

The integration of sophisticated sensors into the global fiber optic footprint is turning passive cables into an active, intelligent nervous system. These optical sensing technologies provide real-time monitoring of physical environments, enhancing the security and efficiency of smart networks while offering a scalable solution for modern telecom infrastructure health.

High Speed Data Centers Leveraging Optical Interconnects

The rapid expansion of cloud computing and artificial intelligence has pushed traditional data center architectures to their physical limits. By replacing copper-based connections with high-performance optical interconnects, modern facilities are achieving the throughput and efficiency required to handle massive workloads while maintaining the scalability necessary for future enterprise IT growth.

Quantum Wireless (www.quantumwi.com) has installed a new high-speed, broadband cellular network at the Augusta Entertainment Complex. The Quantum distributed antenna system (DAS) is designed to improve wireless coverage, capacity and data speeds during events at James Brown Arena and the Bell Auditorium.

The Quantum DAS is a neutral-host system, capable of providing service for all major wireless carriers inside both venues. T-Mobile customers will be the first to benefit from improved connectivity provided by the Quantum network.

Mobile connectivity is crucial for today’s fan experience,” said Chris Bird, Spectra General Manager of the Augusta Entertainment Complex. “Having good cell service at entertainment venues is no longer a customer convenience, it’s a customer expectation. This new Quantum system ensures our visitors can stay connected on their mobile devices, and it’s a significant upgrade in support of our mission to provide top-notch, quality entertainment and further enhance the quality of life here in Augusta.”

Dan Harkness, Quantum Wireless CEO and an Augusta native, said, “Having grown up in Augusta, I have fond memories of attending events at the former Augusta Civic Center, including my own high school graduation. James Brown Arena is a key part of our city’s heritage, and I am proud to be able to honor the legacy of such a legendary performer by ensuring patrons who attend events at his namesake venue and at the Bell have the connectivity they need to fully enjoy the show.”

“As the second-largest metro area in Georgia, Augusta is an important city for T-Mobile. Not only have we made significant investments to our network in the area, Augusta is also home to a T-Mobile call center that employs hundreds of people,” said Bentley Alexander, SVP of Field Engineering, T-Mobile. “We are proud to continue to invest in the Augusta community and be the first wireless provider to bring improved coverage for our customers at James Brown Arena and the Bell Auditorium.”
